Cassini Saturn bound
The controversial Cassini spacecraft lifted off in Florida beginning a 6 1/2-year journey to Saturn. The probe, which will tour Saturn for four years sending images and information back to earth, was mired in controversy because of its use of plutonium fuel. Protestors feared the fuel could have caused a disaster on earth had the launch gone awry.
